U.S. Rep. Virginia Foxx (NC), criticized for a string of polarizing statements made last year on the floor of Congress, drew attention this week for saying that the U.S. government should not pay for education.
Foxx’s statement came Tuesday on Capitol Hill, during a discussion about health-care reform.
“Most of the things that have been done by the federal government which are unconstitutional have been done for good reasons,” Foxx said. “They’re not malevolent reasons, but they’re wrong. We should not be funding education, for example.”
Arrgggghh! A shot over the bow! If you believe this (as I do) then write this Rep and ask her what bills she intends to introduce, so that you can support them.
Also point out to those who hated NCLB (and Bush) that if their belief that NCLB was such a massive failure, then they should be in favor of defunding the Ed. Dept. because Obama's Race to the Top is worse: A Federal takeover of State Schooling. Hmmm. Just like the Banks, GM and ObamaCare. Arrrrgh, I smell a trend maties!
Aye, matey,a small bit of light in a dark environment. Any North Carolinian readers? She'd listen to you long before "Long John" Bennett in IN or me in FL!
