Help for Hurricane Irene Victims In Hometown Area

Hurricane Irene

Keene, NY fire station rubble

Hello! Thanks to every one of you who responded to the last post about us needing to take a few days off due to potential Hurricane Irene damage. The forecast got so nasty we made a last minute decision to evacuate (due also to my EMT son’s urging). We returned to hear good news about lack of damage, not just for us but for friends who surround us. A couple of days later, we even have power to get up and running again. I’m sure your thoughts and prayers for us helped immensely.

Hurricane Irene Hits Upstate New York Hard

As you’re aware, many others didn’t fare as well. In fact, many of them live in the northeast, in Irene’s path when she wasn’t even a hurricane. Instead of wind, there the murderous weather was rain, far too much for areas already inundated – and some already flooded – earlier in the year.

One area hard hit surrounds the place where my children grew up, homeschooled, and still live. Like many Vermont towns, main thoroughfares that are the only way to get from one place to another are washed out, along with bridges. In the Town of Keene, the firehouse literally disappeared into the flood waters. These are beautiful small towns filled with many people who sacrifice lots of creature comforts to be able to enjoy the simplicity and beauty of nature.

Helping the Victims of Hurricane Irene

Regular readers are aware that I don’t sell much, and what I do sell is very low-priced. Still, I want to announce that all profit from the sale of my two e-books during the month of September will be sent to the American Red Cross, Northeastern New York Region to help the good people of the area.

Please consider purchasing The 15th Anniversary Edition of Art of Education: Reclaiming Your Family, Community and Self or The Learning Coach Approach or, as many do, get both for just $7.98. It’s not too early to think about Christmas shopping. Your purchase will not only help the families who receive your gift, but at the same time it will help families in the beautiful North Country of New York who lost so much due to Hurricane Irene. Please share the news and/or this post with others.
